The Vision
We are building a world where everyone has access to clean water, food, energy, and shelter.
The Mission
- We are restoring degraded land into regenerative ecosystems
- We are creating abundant healthy food, water and energy systems for people
- We are building and retrofitting net zero homes that produce more energy than they consume
- We are creating economic resilience with every system we install
- We are building community and restoring faith in humanity
The Ethics
We are guided by our faith in God and the three Permaculture Ethics:
- Earth Care- Provision for all life systems to continue and multiple
- People Care- Provision for people to access those resources necessary to their existence.
- Fair Share- We share the surplus of our knowledge and resources with the world around us so that others may succeed as well.
The Story

Hello!
My Name is Marcas McEwan and I am a Permaculturist, designer, and the founder of Sacred Sections.
I founded Sacred Sections after 12 years working in construction across western Canada as a field surveyor.
In my career as a surveyor I played key roles in the construction of hydro electric dams, coal mines, oil and gas plants, well sites, pipelines, power lines, substations, deep and shallow utilities, subdivisions, roads, homes, condos, apartments and more. I have read tens of thousands of engineering drawings in my life and relayed the location of that information to the crews building it in the field.
But throughout my career, I kept noticing a problem.
Humans have become exceptionally good at extracting resources, developing land, and building infrastructure. Yet we have repeatedly overlook how those systems are built from limited natural world.
Oil and gas companies clear the forest to frack and mine, only to go bankrupt once the extraction is complete, leaving the taxpayer with dirty fields and the bill for reclamation. Lumber mills reforest their cut blocks, now only to harvest them earlier in the cycle, before the trees reach maturity and the soil recovers. Farmers cut and clear forest to create single crop fields. They pile up all the logs and burn them into the atmosphere, only to lose 6 inches of topsoil a year to erosion and their entire crop can be destroyed in a week by a single pest or weather event. They poison the environment with chemicals to combat the fragility of this system. The processed food created causes cancer and diabetes.
That is why I founded Sacred Sections: To help people transform the way they live on the land.
We have the knowledge and technology to do better. We just need to apply a different approach to the way we are designing and developing our places. Permaculture gives us the framework we need to build sustainable lives and communities.
We teach people using permaculture principles to observe nature and replicate the natural processes. Together we plan and shape the land to produce clean water, food, energy and shelter in a way that does not compromise the natural rhythms of this world. We study the land, identify its opportunities and constraints, and develop clear plans that turn a vision into thriving ecosystems.
Let’s get to Work.
Your land is a long term investment. The choices you make today will shape what it can provide tomorrow. Whether you are are stewarding a half acre or one thousand, we can help you make smarter decisions as you invest in the land. Sacred Sections is all about building for the long term. Not just creating a property for today, but creating a place that can serve your family, your community and the future generations.
Welcome. You are in the right place.
